Oral Presenters & Invited speakers

POWERPOINT BEST PRACTICES:  

Technical 

  • Your presentation must be prepared in PowerPoint2000 or any later PowerPoint Version (MS Windows)  
  • Set the slide size of the page to “On-screen show” and landscape orientation in the page set-up section. (Portrait orientation will not be displayed properly)  

Formatting 

  • Use high-contrast lettering, and not too much text per page (max. 5-10 lines or 15-20 words).  
  • Font sizes should be no smaller than size 14 or 16 for maximum visibility.  
  • Make sure you use high-contrast colors for the best definition of your text.  
  • Please be aware that red letters or lines are usually not visible.  
  • To avoid any compatibility problems, please do not use special characters (i.e. “, Ö, Ø, ñ,?, ®, ý,}, {, etc.) to name your presentation files.  
  • Here is the best practice naming convention:  Time / Date / Session Number / Last Name / Version .pptx  (ie: 0900.27.A06.Smith.V2.pptx)  

Content and Organization 

  • As a general rule, you should not present more than 1 slide per minute.  
  • Do not read the slides word for word.  
  • Visual material provides cues and images to support your verbal presentation.  
  • Make sure your presentation has a clear flow from introduction to conclusion.  
  • Identify key points and why they are important.  
  • Include take-home points. Consider which 2-3 points you want the audience to remember after your presentation.  
  • The inclusion of a disclosure slide is mandatory even if you have no conflicts to declare. Less is more!  
  • Include relevant information on your slides, supplemented and explained by your verbal presentation.

  • Sun, Oct 26:  10:00 – 18:00
  • Mon, Oct 27:  8:00 – 17:00
  • Tues, Oct 28:  8:00 – 17:00
  • Wed, Oct 29:  8:00 – 14:00
ROOM SET-UP – each room contains:   

  • Screen
  • Projector
  • Laptop
  • Lectern microphone
  • Audience microphone for questions
  • AV technician on standby

Poster Presenters

POSTER DISPLAY AND PRESENTATION TIME 

Your poster will be on display throughout the day, and you are required to be present during the Poster Mixer session to answer any questions from delegates. 

Poster Mixer 1 

  • Poster Set Up Times: October 26,15:00 – 18:00 and October 27th 7:00- 10:00  
  • Poster Take Down Time: October 27,18:00- 20:00  
  • Poster Presentation: October 27, 12:30 – 13:30  

*Posters Not collected will be recycled at the end of the Conference. 

Poster Mixer 2 

  • Poster Set Up Time: October 28, 7:00- 10:00  
  • Poster Take Down Time: October 28,18:00- 20:00  
  • Poster Presentation: October 28, 12:30 – 13:30 

*Posters Not collected will be recycled at the end of the Conference. 

PREPARE YOUR POSTER 

  • You must print your poster and bring it with you to the Congress.  
  • Poster dimensions must not exceed 4′ x 4′. 
  • Push pins will be provided for you to affix your poster onto the poster board.  
  • Your final poster number should be placed at the top corner of the poster board by the Congress Secretariat. 
  • Your Poster must be in English.  

PRINT YOUR POSTER 

For printing onsite, we recommend using FedEx. Orders must be submitted 1-2 days prior to needing the poster to avoid rush charges.
